A mid-weight, pepper-dusted and spice-framed Tasmanian shiraz from the Four Winds vineyard in the Huon Valley. Lovely ripe, red cherry, satsuma plum and blueberry fruits, etched with exotic spice and hints of roast meats, red licorice, black pepper, blueberry pie, wildflowers, dried citrus rind and ginger cake. Great harmony and tension with tight, fine tannins and a sapid minerality to its acid pulse, tracking savoury and pure with a graceful plume of ripe fruit on the finish.

It’s easy to become jaded about Australian shiraz – there’s so much of it. And yet, grown in a cool climate and matched to thoughtful winemaking, the result is a delicious drink. Heady aromas of florals, pepper and spice, dark fruit and even a hot stone/ferrous note. The palate is supple and juicy, the tannins fine and best of all, this is a savoury style. Nice one.
