The 2022 Volnay Clos la Cave contains 60% whole bunches and is armed with blacker fruit compared to the Vieilles Vignes, well-defined with blackberry, sous-bois and light pencil box aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, blackberry and raspberry fruit intermixed with touches of black pepper towards the lingering tightly-knit finish. It should drink over two or three years but will give up to 15 years of drinking pleasure. Points: 89-91
