Demure rather than exuberant, it offers beautiful purity of strawberry and raspberry with balsamic and forest root accents. Elegant in fruit concentration, the palate boasts a fine balance of energetic acidity and compact textural tannins. Appetisingly bitter herbs animate the finish. Surrounding the winery, the family’s historic vineyards in Ronchi are also the oldest, including vines well into their 70s. A southeastern exposure means the slope is bathed in the gentler morning sun – an advantage in the relentlessly sunlit, hot 2022 vintage.

The 2022 Barbaresco Ronchi turned out beautifully. Energetic, vivid and vibrant, the 2022 has a lot to offer. Crushed red berry fruit, mint and white pepper give the Ronchi its nervy, vibrant feel. I would give it a year or two in bottle.

A floral and peppery style. On the nose, it shines with fresh roses and violets, a vibrant mix of blood oranges and strawberries plus a touch of sweet spices.
