The 2022 Barbaresco Cottá is explosive, deep and heady. It shows a bit more concentration and depth relative to the other wines in the range, along with the textural volume that is typical of this site. Dark red cherry, plum, lavender and rose petal are beautifully resonant in the glass. This is all class, and easily one of the wines of the year.

An elegant and restrained wine with aromas of rhubarb, earth, strawberries and sweet spices. Medium-bodied on the palate, showing silky tannins and a dusty finish that’s ripe and fresh. Good floral and citrus aftertaste. Drinkable now, but best from 2026.

Attractive if delicate scents of strawberry, dried rose and nutmeg gain earthy intrigue from liquorice root. The palate is seductively fashioned with fine, soft, sandy tannins melting into rich, supple red fruit. Fresh, frisky acidity draws out the mid-length finish. In the township of Neive, Cottà represents the estate’s warmest site. Introduced with the 2015 vintage, it is the only one of the estate’s annata Barbaresco fermented in wood with just enough quantity to fill a single 15-hectolitre cask.
