It's wonderfully weighted and mouth-filling on the palate, offering terrific fruit power with spicy nuances, backed by refined texture and chalky tannins. Gorgeously composed and expressed with a great line and length.

Exceptional old vine Ebenezer fruit has been brought in to create this wonderfully expressive Barossa blend. The Shiraz from vines up to 100 years old and the Cabernet up to 130 years old. It’s a remarkable resource that Glaetzer has harnessed expertly to capture every last bit of that intensity and power. Rich, dark chocolate and blackberry plummy flavours swirl through a dense and concentrated palate. Having said all that, it retains an elegance and gracefulness.

The great Aussie red blend from a top year and a producer nearing cult status. This is heavily Shiraz dominant – 82%, to just 18% Cabernet. From the Ebenezer sub-region, the yield overall is just two and a half tonnes per hectare. The Shiraz vines range in age between 30 and 100 years, while the Cabernet is even more impressive, between 30 and 130 years. The wine spent sixteen months maturing in hogsheads, all new, with 92% of them French and the remaining 8% American. Under cork. This is a bit special. An opaque maroon, we have notes of blackberries, cold tea, chocolate and mocha with some soy, bay leaves, dried herbs and graphite also evident. A wine with a supple texture and immense length, this is seamless, with the intensity never wavering for a moment. There is oak, but it is immaculately handled and simply adds to the overall impression of a brilliant wine. Fifteen years ahead of it, without a hiccup. It is cracking buying.

The 2022 Anaperenna Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon is so attractive on the nose, with red berries and roses, abundant, glossy fruits and an attractive balance of spice to go with it. These Glaetzer wines are full-bodied yet sleek, and while this is certainly ripe, it is in no way dull or overdone because of that. It has notes of raspberry, dark chocolate, cherry (ripe in its way) and licorice. There are layers of jubes/pastilles, plump fruit, earth and plenty of ductile tannin, and oak is tucked away in there too—all things writ large yet svelte. 15% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

A balanced, fruity, textural and well-composed blend of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon with cassis, dark cherries, warm spices and dried flowers on the nose, following through to a full body with fine, firm tannins and a lovely kick of peppercorn to the fleshy berries. Chalky, flavorful finish.
