This was a marvellous season in the Barossa and this is a super example of what was produced in that year. Perhaps not the opulence of the wines of 2021, but instead wines of more finesse and elegance, still with tremendous flavour intensity which is captured on a super concentrated, elegantly structured palate. The nose shows a liquorice-y mocha character overlaying the darker black fruits. The palate has a rich and slightly unctuous mouthfeel with tremendous density and flavour concentration. It's a wine of poise, structure, and ultimately balance that's harnessed through to a sustained, very long finish. Excellent wine

Ken Gargett - Winepilot

From 65-year-old vines in the Rowland Flat area of the Barossa, the wine was matured in a mix of 40% new and older American oak, 50% older French and 10% Russian. Under Vinc Cork. Dark maroon with a magenta rim, there is oak evident here, but it is clearly high quality and deftly handled, even if integration is still proceeding. We have notes of mocha, coffee beans, leather, chocolate, aniseed, black fruits, tar and cocoa powder, along with hints of vanilla, cinnamon and a nutmeggy touch. The structure is seamless, dense but dancing, and there is superb length and immaculate balance here. The wine finishes with very fine, powdery tannins. On the palate towards the finish, the chocolate notes are almost overwhelming, but rather delicious. A wine which will surely handle the next twenty years with ease.

Sit down for this one. You need to be comfortable and centred to drink this, as it’s a big fella Barossa Shiraz weighing in at 15.5% abv, clinging as it drips down the glass and seriously proud of its physique. It’s fleshy and ripe, oozing dark crimson plum compote, mid-dark chocolate (not too bitter), peppery spices and big warm hugs of classic Barossa Shiraz personality. The oak regime employed has threaded through the fruit-powered palate, finishing with a subtle tawnyish like note. Give it some air at first, and worth noting it delivers even long-lasting, big energy for days after opening. You’ll need to appreciate this Schwarzenegger style of Shiraz to fully warm to it - and if you do, big ups
