Deep purple. This is grenache writ large on the nose, with blackberry, raspberry, dry spices, and exotic suggestions of pomegranate and Turkish Delight. Oak is a gentle seaoning in the background. It’s velvety and powerful in the mouth, with lush mid-palate fruit, excellent length, and layered fine tannins in perfect harmony. 96 Points

The 2022 Grenache is concentrated and fleshy, and in the lineup of McLaren Vale Grenache on the bench today, it looks so remarkably Barossan that it brings a smile to my face. It's excellent. There are offerings of red dirt, gravel, blood, pomegranate, raspberry, mulberry and licorice, with a seamless finish. It's a brilliant wine. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under natural cork and wax.

The fruit is sweet and jellied but the length is excellent and so too the spicy, dry, sinewy line of tannin. This is Barossa grenache in excellent form. There’s a juicy joyousness to the fruit, it’s so lively and so tasty, but then the spice-and-anise-laced finish is full of running. This is an impressive wine but it’s also deliciousness writ large.

A high-fiving, floral and sumptuous grenache. Tamarind, clove and raspberry jam roll. The acidity is febrile, mopping up the full-weighted and bumptious seams, but I'd love this if it were a bit more structured and savory. A lovely wine all the same. A project in the making.
