The estate Château Du Glana is located on the Route des Grands Vins running parallel to the Gironde estuary, between the town of Beychevelle and Saint-Julien, opposite the famous Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. After several other owners, Mr Gabriel Meffre bought Château Du Glana in 1961. He increased the vineyard from 5 to 59 hectares in the following years. Helped by his young sons Ludovic and Julien, Jean-Paul Meffre now looks after the estate. They are motivated by a major ambition: to achieve the estate's full potential. With 59 hectares of vines nearly in a single block, Château du Glana is located in the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation, consisting of 90% great growths. Key elements - Familiy estate - The family is also the owner of Château Lalande and Château Bellegrave - The estate keeps improving the quality of the wines over the vintages 2021, a vintage that truly reflects its terroir Spring 2021 was cool and wet in the region, with localised frost. Fortunately, the Gironde Estuary helped to protect our vineyards, sparing them from the vagaries of the weather. The meteorological conditions were particularly conducive to the spread of mildew, which posed a significant threat throughout the growing season. While initially slow to emerge, the summer eventually set in, with a sunny and fairly dry month of August, albeit without excess heat. These conditions were favourable to slow, optimum ripening, which led to a later harvest than last year and an equally small crop.
