Tasting Notes

Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, violet and subtle spice with hints of dark chocolate and French oak. The palate is medium to full-bodied, offering ripe dark fruit flavours, silky tannins and balanced acidity, leading to a smooth, long finish. Elegant and well-structured, it is enjoyable now and has good cellaring potential.

Product Highlights

Why buy it?

We can’t tell you who made it.

But we can tell you who shaped the wine - Kym Teusner, one of the Barossa’s most accomplished and highly decorated winemakers.

And we can tell you what’s in the bottle.

This is a 2021 Northern Barossa Shiraz made from mature vines, normally sold for $50 and available today for just $15.

Nobody hides the label on an average Shiraz. They do it to protect a wine that’s worth far more than the price it’s being offered for.

Rather than publicly slash the price and devalue the brand, the boutique producer behind this wine asked us to release it as a mystery bottle. That means you get a proper Northern Barossa Shiraz for less than many everyday cleanskins.

Except this isn’t a cleanskin. Not even close.

The winery makes just one Shiraz, with fruit sourced from mature Northern Barossa vines and Kym Teusner helping shape the final blend.

In the glass, it’s everything you’d hope for from the region - rich, generous and packed with dark berries, spice and plenty of depth.

It drinks like a $50 Shiraz because that’s exactly what it is.

So, if you’re happy to trade a famous label for an extra $35 in your pocket, this is one to grab before it sells out.

Overall rating: 3.6 / 5 from 5 reviews.
