From a remarkable vintage, lower temperatures extended the ripening window, yielding wines of intense flavour, concentration and balance – this one no exception. There's blueberry, blackberry and black cherry flavours, and a whorl of fruit, centric to the weight of the wine. This is complemented by oak tension and flavour – clove, cigar box, tobacco leaf and burnished leather. The tannins grip and curtail the opulence, lending line and drive. Pure decadence.

Thick flavour, alcohol warmth, svelte texture and firm tannin, the latter drenched in inky fruit. This is an incredibly concentrated wine, its flavours of blackberry, rust, bitumen, earth, peppercorn and black licorice all sitting at the outer reaches of ripeness, and all wrapped neatly in mocha-like oak. The brandied warmth of the palate here won’t be for everyone but the concentration, structure and length here are all impressive.
