The 2021 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru is very pure and perfumed, macerated red cherries, wild strawberry, kirsch and rose petal scents, an underlying mineralité that will become more conspicuous with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, quite firm tannins (more like a Mazis?) leading to a sapid, slightly peppery finish that lingers. Needs to knit together but great potential. Points: 93-95

The '21 Chapelle-Chambertin from Ponsot shows a meticulous extraction. The nose is somewhat shut down at present, but the supple, bright red, and blackberry fruit explodes on the palate. The wine has abundant crisp acidity, well-managed tannins, and a pleasantly lingering finish. It is less forward than it has been in some years but seems built to age. It is produced from a parcel of nearly 0.50 hectares in the lieu-dit Les Gémeaux.
