Winemakers Note

The estate Château Citran is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc. The Donissan de Citran family ruled this ancient Médoc seigneury from the 13th century until 1832. In 1996, the Merlaut family, already well involved in the wine industry in Bordeaux, took over the reins of this magnificent property. Today, Château Citran has more than 80 hectares of vines in the Haut Médoc appellation, planted with the grape varieties that are best suited for this terroir: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Tradition and modern techniques come together in the vineyard and in the cellars to produce an elegant and distinguished wine. Tasting notes - 2021 vintage Deep ruby color with purple reflections. First fresh nose, notes of red fruits and blackcurrant. With aeration, the fruit becomes more precise with redcurrant, cherry and blackcurrant notes. The wood is integrated little by little, we perceive vanilla and spicy notes. The rest of the maturation will bring roundness. Fresh finish, slightly toasted. In the mouth, a nice attack, freshness. The mid-palate is supple, with a nice volume accompanied by a fruity aroma. The finish is of good length, toasted, on a young breeding, which will gain to melt.
