Monica Larner - Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Massolino works mostly with Serralunga d'Alba fruit, but this is the one exception. From a vineyard site in Castiglione Falletto with sandy limestone soils, the 2020 Barolo Parussi is a stunner. The wine is radiant and bright with an especially direct and focused quality. I would describe it as razor-sharp. This adds to a general sense of fine polish and tightness. I can't get enough and I can't wait to see where it goes 10 or 20 years from now. Parussi is an 8,300-bottle release.

Vivid red fruit with subtle floral and citrusy notes and hints of crushed stones. Medium-bodied with firm tannins. Structured and focused with a lingering, expanding aftertaste. Impressive density. Try after two to three years.

Falstaff
Bright ruby garnet colour. It is very appealing and has an open nose with notes of pomegranate, cherries and raspberries. Grippy tannins enveloped by fine texture, the wine builds up very well over the course, with a firm drive on the finish.

I pretty much never get any invites, these days, to any tastings of top wines from importers. Not sure why. Probably because I rarely accept. Anyway, I asked Clara Davidson of Bibendum, if, maybe I could taste some new releases from Massolino and she delivered the goods. And quickly. Bless her. She is a champion. Efficiency is her middle name, I’m sure. This is Castiglione Falletto from a Serralunga producer and generally my favourite wine from Massolino.
Poached strawberries, mint and menthol, dried roses, chamomile, exotic spice. It’s medium-bodied, juicy red fruit, fine grainy graphite tannin, some orange peel aromatics, quiet grip and so much perfume, gentle peel bitterness with a finish of excellent length. Very nice. Better later.

The 2020 Barolo Parussi is a classy, nuanced wine. It shows lovely textural depth and resonance, but in the mid-weight style of the year. Dark red cherry, lavender, rose petal, mint and spice all build nicely, filling out the layers effortlessly. The 2020 is weightless and elegant, with the understated textural depth that is such a signature of this vintage.

The palate reveals a solid fruit core, complemented by well-structured tannins that promise an intriguing evolution. This harmonious interplay of bright acidity and depth showcases the allure of Nebbiolo. Drink Now - 2040
