The Dame Bouard Montagne St Emillion 2020 is a superb Bordeaux wine produced from the renowned Chateau Clos de Bouard in France. This vintage exhibits a deep ruby red colour, indicative of its youthfulness and vibrancy. On the nose, one is greeted with intense aromas of ripe black fruits such as plum, blackcurrant, and blackberry, accompanied by subtle hints of oak and earthy notes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with a velvety texture and well-integrated tannins. Flavours of dark berries, cedar, and a touch of vanilla can be savored, leading to a long, elegant finish. The use of a blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes in this wine has resulted in a harmonious balance of fruit and structure. This is a wine that will continue to evolve and improve with age, making it a true gem from the Bordeaux region.

Notes of ripe currants and black cherries with dried flowers, leafy herbs and walnut. Medium- to full-bodied, chewy and structured with velvety tannins and a firm, but refreshing finish. Try after 2024.

Strong ruby garnet, purple reflections, discreet ochre rim brightening. Black berries, some nougat, a hint of vanilla, liquorice is underlying. Medium body, pickled cherries, vivid tannins, nougat touch, mineral, a savoury companion at the table.Strong ruby garnet, purple reflections, discreet ochre rim brightening. The 2020 Dame de Boüard has an attractive, lively and pure nose of perfumed blackberry, violet and incense aromas that seem to blossom with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, and quite saline on the entry, with good acidity. Muscular on the finish, but I can abide that because there is good length and it should mellow during its élevage and lose some of its stockiness.

The 2020 Dame de Boüard is a tasty second wine. It offers up racy, super-ripe red fruit, orange peel, cinnamon, mocha and apricot, all in a forward style that can be enjoyed on release. Even with all of its natural exuberance, the Dame de Boüard retains notable finesse.
