Auld family wines east hill block reserve
"Very nice drop, fruity, great on the nose, long finish, slight salty taste. Definitely worth a try."
The original East Hill Block Shiraz won Best in Collective. This is its bigger, rarer Reserve brother.
Made by sixth-generation winemakers Sam and Jock Auld, the 2020 Reserve comes from the oldest vines on a single ironstone-rich Barossa block. Only a few hand-selected barrels were made, giving the wine more depth, power and structure than the already impressive original release.
It is packed with blackberry, dark plum and baking spice, with firm tannins, a savoury ironstone edge and a finish that keeps rolling. This is not soft, easy-going Barossa Shiraz. It is a serious, limited-release statement wine, built to sit alongside the region’s flagships and develop for 30 years or more.
With 97-point pedigree, tiny production and genuine cellar potential, this is Barossa Shiraz made for the long haul.
