2019 Buscemi Tartaraci Rosso

APPEARANCE Displays a pale yet bright, vibrant, crimson colour with a feint purplish hue. AROMA Intensely fragrant with notes of red and black berry fruit, and muted wild florals. PALATE The palate is restrained and textural, with a wonderful play between the more savoury, minerally notes from the black, volcanic soils and the lifted red nuancs of roses and satsuma plums.

Mirella Buscemi, born near Siracusa was inspired first by her grandparents, and later by Mt Etna and one of the region’s leading producers - Alberto Graci. On the occasion of their wedding in 2016, Alberto gifted Mirella, a 1.5 ha, bush-trained, 90-year-old, vineyard in the Contrada of Tartaraci, near Bronte, on the western face of Mt Etna. Situated at 980 m.a.s.l., the Buscemi Tartaraci vineyard is unique, firstly as it is located above the delimited area for the production of DOC Etna wines, and secondly as it is a ‘field blend’ of 70% nerello capuccio & nerello mascalese with 30% granaccia (grenache).
