Antonio Galloni MW - Vinous
The 2018 Clos Badon-Thunevin is gorgeous. Ripe, supple and inviting, the 2018 is a total knock out. Sweet dark cherry, new leather, licorice and chocolate all build in the glass. In 2018, Clos Badon is 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc. More Franc than normal gives the wine gorgeous aromatic nuance and also a bit more tannin that needs to soften. There is a lot to look forward to.

Neal Martin - Vinous
From Jean-Luc Thunevin, the 2018 Clos Badon is very succinct and well defined on the nose, featuring almost pixelated red fruit, crushed stone and rose petal aromas that blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine backbone here and a complex finish of blackberry, cracked black pepper and clove. Stylish and one for the long term. This is just superb.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW - Wine Advocate
Weighing in with 15% declared alcohol, the 2018 Clos Badon Thunevin has a deep garnet-purple color. It leaps from the glass with notes of ground cloves, star anise and baked blackberries with hints of prunes, fallen leaves and graphite. The full-bodied palate has a beautifully plush texture and bags of juicy black fruits with a lively line to lift the long, spicy finish.

Aromas of black fruit, tea leaves, dried flowers, walnuts and earth. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins. Tight and structured with intense dark spice. Better from 2024.
