Exquisite shiraz from this excellent vineyard. There is a slight ironstone ferruginous character on the nose and palate which adds another dimension to the fruit intensity and mouth feel/ Sinewy tannins are firm, providing structure to support extended cellaring. Has a slightly gravelly loam characters which appears to be a vineyard thing.

Jane Faulkner - Halliday's Wine Companion

Aged in French barriques (45% new) for 10 months. There’s a lot of oak smothering this dense wine, snuffing the life out of it. The wood is spinning off sweet vanillin notes, new leather, varnish and charred meats, plus adding to the tannins. There’s quality fruit underneath and there’s a slippery texture, but a case for less is more, perhaps.
