Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, co-fermented blend of 77% lambrusco maestri and 23% lagrein. Light vivid puce, exceptional given the whole-bunch pressing. Intriguing yet intense flavours bring red fruits onto the same field as a savoury bitterness that has perfect balance, giving the wine the ability to marry with Chinese duck, pork and vegetable (especially mushroom) dishes.

From the Chalmers family and brought to you by the grape varieties lambrusco maestri and lagrein off the Chalmers Heathcote vineyard. Exotic, but clever combo for rose. New label now (no picture, but hey). Rose water, rose hip tea, mixed citrus peel, pot pourri. Lovely perfume to open the proceedings. Juicy and crisp in the palate showing a fine offering of rose water and cranberry drink with a chalky-lemony finish. It’s a very simple wine, clean cut, a bit underwhelming in personality, but does absolutely the trick of pale pink wine refreshment.

Deepish hot-pink colour with a tinge of development rather than fresh purple tints. The bouquet is herbal and berry-like, hinting at cabernet or merlot, with fresh acid very apparent on the palate and finish. The aftertaste is short and a trifle watery, with a slight tannin grip.
