Very pure, with a long, focused beam of cassis, warm plum and loganberry fruit flavors, seamlessly inlaid with savory, iron and floral notes. A tarry hint checks in on the finish, but the fruit and bright minerality win out easily. Shows good precision. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2022 through 2034. — JM
A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Clos Marsalette sports a deep ruby color as well as medium-bodied, perfumed notes of blackberries, crushed violets, leafy tobacco, and bay leaf. It’s seamless, elegant, and incredibly polished, with ripe tannin. It shows the more charming, forward style of the vintage, yet should age nicely on its balance and purity.
This shows lots of white pepper, chalk and crushed berries. Medium to full body, creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. 60% of the crop lost due to frost. Delicious now, but better after 2021.

Medium bodied with a sweet, smoky, black cherry character, the wine is forward, soft and earthy and will definitely drink well for at least a decade.

Antonio Galloni MW - Vinous
The 2017 Clos Marsalette is ripe, bold and juicy, with quite a bit of raciness and more overt ripeness than I remember seeing en primeur. At the same time, there is plenty of floral and savory lift from the Cabernets. Sweet red plum, mint, sage, tobacco and cedar are all laced together in this super-expressive, inviting, mid-weight Pessac-Léognan Graves from Stephan von Neipperg. This is such a pretty wine. Tasted two times.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW - Wine Advocate
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Clos Marsalette gives up scents of stewed plums, baked black cherries and mulberries with touches of cassis, cigar box and pencil lead. Medium-bodied, the palate has a firm, chewy texture and plenty of earth-laced black fruit, finishing just a tad firm. Drinking Window : 2020 - 2031
Jane Anson - Decanter
Tight, firm and confidently extracted black fruits develop a slightly bitter tinge and close in on the final section. It has stayed true to the estate signature, but where that works brilliantly in years with concentrated, rich fruits, it struggles a little for balance here. Drinking Window 2023 - 2033
