Made with 90% Corvina Veronese and 10% Oseleta, this full-bodied red boasts aromas of ripe dark-skinned fruit, tobacco, French oak and new leather. Elegantly structured, the palate features blackberry, Morello cherry, vanilla and a hint of star anise framed in taut, refined tannins. Drink through 2025.

Savory grilled herb and loamy mineral notes are aromatic on the nose in this fresh and polished, medium- to full-bodied red. Transitions on the palate to flavors of crushed cherry fruit with green olive and tar-tinged mineral accents. Chewy tannins firm the lingering, spiced finish. Corvina and Oseleta.

The 2017 La Grola offers mineral-infused blackberries with a dusting of violet pastille and hints of fresh coffee grounds. Its textures are silky and elegant, with a polished display of ripe red and black fruits gaining further depth as savory herbs and spices evolve toward the close. Finishes long with hints of mocha and balsamic-tinged sour cherry. While I don’t see the 2017 as the most age-worthy rendition of La Grola, it is certainly a pleasure today and will continue to show well over the medium term.
