2016 Goulee by Cos d'Estournel

The 2016 Goulee, from team "Cos d'Estournel" is a blend of 77% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc and was picked from 28 September to 15 October. It has a clean and precise blackcurrant and graphite tinged bouquet, not as intense as previous vintages that I have tasted such as 2009 and 2010, but very well delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with a very Pauillac-like opening thanks to that vein of pencil lead. Fine acidity here, moderate depth with a gentle grip on the graphite-tinged finish. This is better than the 2015 Goulée that I tasted last year and is very promising for when it is finally bottled.

The 2016 Goulée by Cos d'Estournel is made up of 77% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. It has a deep garnet-purple color and opens with youthful notes of crushed red and black plums, cherries and blackberries with touches of chocolate mint and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with plenty of juicy red and black fruits, framed by soft tannins and finishing with a minty lift.
