It feels rugged and sturdy. yet it also feels silken. It's been well crafted and polished. It spent 40 months in French oak, amazingly, yet it doesn't taste oak=dominated in any way. Indeed it essentially tastes fruit-driven. Blackcurrant, dark chocolate, bay leaves and peppercorns. There's a saucy softness to the palate and a hit of licorice to the aftertaste. It's good.

Again, this wine replicates the sourcing, fermentation and maturation we saw with the 2015 Cabernet. Maroon in colour, there are notes of tobacco leaves, warm earth, animal skins, campfire, charcuterie, black fruits and beef stock. A wine of medium length, there is good maturity here. It finishes with soft furry tannins. Drink now and over the next couple of years.
