One of the best young wines I’ve had from this top Côtes de Francs property. Deeply coloured, highly aromatic and sweetly oaked, it has finesse and balance, stylish tannins and ripe, supple violet and raspberry fruit. A mini Pomerol? Drink: 2020-30.
Aromas of plum, berry, meat, flowers, and mushroom. Full to medium body, round and lightly chewy tannins and a savory finish. Hard not to drink now. Plenty of character and balance. Pure merlot. Drink or hold.
Nez très frais de fruits rouges et noirs, beaucoup de fraîcheur en bouche avec un grain de tannin affiné et une longueur fraîche et nette. Le meilleur millésime de Marsau, dans un style qui rend hommage à la finesse du terroir.
A structured wine from the Chadronnier family, it is full of tannins and also full of sweeping black-fruit flavors. It is perfumed, rich and concentrated. Don't drink until at least 2020 to get the full generosity of the wine.
This has a slightly rounded feel, with a pretty, plump core of plum and black cherry fruit, laced with a notable but well-integrated tobacco leaf edge. A light loam hint echoes at the end. Drink now through 2020. 3,335 cases made.—J.M.
The 2014 Marsau is dark, bold and juicy, with plenty of depth and overall intensity. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, chalk and wild flowers give this plump Côtes de Bordeaux lovely complexity. Drink it over the next few years.
The Château Marsau 2014 is pure Merlot picked October 8-10, the property belonging to the Chardronnier family of négoçiants, CVBG (Dourthe). It has a lively and vivacious red cherry and vanilla-scented bouquet that has playful charm about it. The palate is well balanced with upfront fleshy ripe fruit, a keen line of acidity and decent focus on the finish. There's a bit of swagger about the Côtes de Bordeaux and it probably deserves a year or two in bottle.
Upfront plummy fruit that is simple and forward. There are plenty of juicy, dark fruit flavors to enjoy young. The tannins are a bit drying and the finish is modest.

Winemakers Note
Chateau Marsau was purchased 20 years ago, in 1994, by the Chadronnier Family. This estate, which comprises 14 hectares of clay soils, produces a 100% Merlot wine. 2014, the "indian summer vintage" produced a modest yield of barely 38hl/ha. Fresh, intense, with silky tannins, Marsau 2014 is a real acheivement. It regularly comes out as one of the best wines from its category according to most influential critics.
