Tar & Roses 'The Rose' Shiraz 2023

Jeni Port - Halliday Wine Companion

A beautiful rose by any name, classic in proportion and style. As always, brings a touch of class to Heathcote shiraz and in a cooler year like '23 it is even more evident, with a greater fineness in detail. Subtle, lifted aromatics fill the aroma. Cassis, blueberry, black cherry, plum, a hint of black olive, sage and wild herbs flow easily across the palate with an elegance, a fineness, of expression. Develops into a velvet-textured, complex mouthful.

Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front

Heathcote shiraz in a super heavy bottle. This is firm, rich and bold, with black-hearted fruit banging through peppercorns, earth, saltbush and smoked cedar. Oak is a background player here, mostly, the fruit – both red and black berried – beating a loud drum from start to finish. It’s not subtle but it’s effective. Tannin does enough through the finish to keep it all in line.
