Blackberry, plum and dark cherry lead a gently spicy nose. The palate is medium-bodied and juicy, with fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity giving the dark fruit definition. Pepper and savoury herbal notes add interest, carrying through to a smooth finish.

Product Highlights

There's a rather extraordinary story hiding beneath this Mystery label.

Behind this superb 2024 single-vineyard Adelaide Hills Shiraz is one of South Australia's true winemaking legends. A pioneer of cool-climate winemaking, an elder statesman of the industry, and a man with over 60 consecutive vintages to his name. That's some serious pedigree.

Today, he and his son seek out small, high-elevation parcels of premium fruit from independent growers, working in small batches with a hands-on approach to preserving the quality and character of each vineyard.

Nimble winemaking at its finest.

And the result? A superb cool-climate Shiraz with depth, complexity and, most importantly, oodles of flavour. Think juicy dark cherry, plum, cedarwood, peppery spice and savoury herbs, with a lovely elegance that speaks to its Adelaide Hills origins.

The critics certainly loved it:

  • 95 Points - Tony Love, Winepilot
  • 94 Points - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
  • 93 Points - Jeni Port, Winepilot
  • 92 Points - Ken Gargett, Winepilot

Our Head Wine Buyer Mark Pollard was equally impressed: "Juicy and delicious with just a touch of spiciness. The perfect Tuesday night Shiraz. The perfect pizza Shiraz!"

And therein lies the beauty of this wine. There's serious winemaking pedigree behind the label, and enough depth and structure to reward six to eight years in the cellar from vintage. But it's also an utterly delicious, fruit-driven Shiraz that's ready to go right now.

A serious cool-climate red. A superb mystery. And a cracking little everyday Shiraz with a story well worth telling.
