Product Highlights

This Spanish variety has found a second home in the cool Hilltops of New South Wales. The vines grow in the region’s rich red soils, and cool nights keep the fruit fresh. Toni Paterson MW scored it 95 and said she was hooked from the first sniff. She praised spot-on fruit balanced by savouriness, and a glorious mid-palate. The show judges agreed. It won gold at the 2025 Royal Adelaide Wine Show, and bronze at Sydney the same year. Expect ripe cherry, raspberry and plum, with clove, nutmeg and a little vanilla from French oak. The tannins are velvety, and there’s an earthy, savoury edge under the fruit. The maker suggests grilled meats and Spanish-inspired food. Think chorizo, smoky paprika and a hot grill. It’s medium to full-bodied, with the weight for food but none of the heaviness. It drinks beautifully now. Toni Paterson reckons a touch of age will make it even better, so keep a couple back for 2028.
