Best Shiraz From McLaren Vale

Coffee and cream. Fish and chips. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Some things are just made to go together. They are inseparable. Here’s another:

McLaren Vale and Shiraz.

At The Wine Collective, we’ve tasted our fair share of shiraz wines. It’s safe to say the best shiraz in McLaren Vale is not an easy pick, as there’s plenty of competition. Since we can’t choose our #1, here are two of our favourites!

1.Sister's Run Epiphany McLaren Vale Shiraz 2016

Sister’s Run is one of our all-time favourite winemakers. Anyone who’s been shopping with us for long will have heard the name.

She’s got several different winery projects under her belt and was recently awarded ‘Bushing Monarchs’ at the McLaren Vale Wine Show, signifying she had the best wine in the show.

This shiraz comes from a single vineyard in McLaren Vale that’s tended by an exceptionally talented vintner and comes absolutely charging out of the glass.

Tasting Notes :

“Cloves, roasted plums, touches of graphite, and peppercorn. This is a wine of richness and style, the value high, the enjoyment likewise. Feel and flavour at a very tasty price.” 93 points, Campbell Mattinson

2. Aramis The Inseparables McLaren Vale Shiraz 2020

Coffee and cream. Fish and chips. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Some things are just made to go together. They are inseparable. Here’s another:

McLaren Vale and Shiraz.

And few do Shiraz as well as Aramis. This is ‘The Inseparables' 2020. Literature fans amongst our members will notice the nod to Dumas’ ‘Three Musketeers' and for good reason. The idea of coming together, of being all for one and one for all, is at the heart of this stunningly good value Shiraz.

Winemaker Renae Hirsch fastidiously selects, ferments and blends separate parcels of pristine fruit from the Estate vineyards with the notion that the final wine be a sum of its components. It works.  The resulting wine is seamless, powerful and elegant, showing ripe fruits, vanilla and baking spice. Plush tannins and that classic McLaren sweetness of fruit complete the friendship.

McLaren Vale and Shiraz are two partnerships we can’t get enough of. Enough of us raving about it though, why not try a glass (or bottle) for yourself? Shop our range of McLaren Vale Shiraz now!
