Tasting Notes

Master Blend 100's is a selection of the very finest Grande Champagne blends in the Tesseron cellar, Cognacs that were put aside by the company's founder, Abel Tesseron, in the second half of the 19th century. What you will find in this bottle comes from 4 demijohns—25 litre heavy glass flagons that preserve old Cognac eaux-de-vies and have attained optimum maturity. The lot year on these demijohns is 1865. For what it's worth, a single bottle of vintage 1858 Cognac Croizet Cuvee Leonie sold at a Shanghai auction in 2011 for $157,000! As for the Masterblend 100, this Cognac would have been distilled from many grape varieties that were planted and flourished pre phylloxera. Certainly Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Folle Blanche, but others as well. Sadly, there are no records to preserve the precise origins of the wine predistillation, save the 1865 tag. Only 143 bottles were produced of this window into a bygone era.
