Product Highlights
This wine needs no introduction. It is a hero in its own right. Easily Australia’s most famous Chardonnay, this Margaret River white now boasts more than 30 vintages of greatness. A lion of the West, it may well be the most collected and feted white wine in the country.
If ever there was a vintage to hone in on, it is 2023. This will delight collectors. A perfect Goldilocks vintage from a wine at the top of its game. Conditions were 10 out of 10. The Chardonnay ripened without a hint of threat or imbalance - just long, sun-drenched days and a slow, even growing season.
And when the winemakers declare the vintage timeless in the West, it usually means a formidable Art Series release is on the horizon. This year is no exception.
What’s in the glass is equal parts exotic and familiar. Chamomile, lemon myrtle, ginger snap, white almond and nutmeg rise from the glass. An extraordinarily evocative aromatic profile, and one so distinctly Leeuwin in style.
It’s already rocketing up the charts, with huge reviews from Erin Larkin at Wine Advocate, Huon Hooke and Gary Walsh.
Given that equivalent Burgundies - like Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne - now retail at around $650 a bottle, the asking price here looks absurdly modest.
Alongside Australia’s great collectibles - Giaconda, Grange, Bin 389 and Hill of Grace - Art Series reigns supreme as the country’s quintessential grand marque white wine.
