Here’s a beautiful example of what was possible with chardonnay in Burgundy in 2021: stunning aromatic complexity - flint, ripe lemon, fresh pineapple plus touches of mint and elderflower - is married to a very elegant medium-bodied palate with a wonderful silkiness. The long delicately chalky finish is precisely underlined by fine tannins. Already delicious! Sustainable.

Aromas of citrus oil, crisp green apple, white flowers and pastry cream introduce the 2021 Beaune 1er Cru du Château Blanc, a medium-bodied, satiny and charming wine that's bright and precise, concluding with a saline finish. Points: 88-90

The 2021 Beaune du Château Blanc 1er Cru has an attractive nose of Golden Delicious and Williams pear aromas, nicely focused though not intense. The palate is well balanced with a taut bead of acidity, quite vibrant and slightly peachy towards the pithy finish. Certainly a step up from the Beaune Blanc this year. Points: 86-88
