Marcus Ellis - Halliday Wine Companion
This is classically styled but on the expressive and textural end of things, even at what is relatively modest alcohol, with acidity a key driver. Plump with varietal pear notes (both Williams and Bosc), red apple skin, cinnamon and poached apple. This has rolling layers of fruit marked by both generosity – of flavour and feel – and enough reserve, making it an eminently pleasing drink sans food, but also one that will happily hold its own with dishes fresh and bright to those with a bit more weight and fatty intensity. This bottling was an early benchmark for the grape here, and still is.

Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
The Grilli family first planted this variety in 1988, well ahead of the curve. A bit of a benchmark at times here too. I note that the RRP is $42 on the bottle, but it is $38 by the single on the Primo Estate website, and if you buy a dozen (can be mixed) you get a free bottle of their olive oil. Deal!
This is tight and structured as a style. Racy citrus fruits, green melon, green mango, a little green almond too. It’s got dashes of sweet herbs, some cripsness and dryness of granitic minerality, a little saline element through the finish. There’s quite a bit on here in the compact, tightly wound frame, and the wine relaxes nicely with time in the glass too. A little sizzle to acidity suggesting the wine needs some time to relax a little too. It’s on the scene.
