Ray Jordan - Winepilot

A most attractive textured and flavoursome Pinot Gris. It’s not a big style, but there is generosity here delivered with admirable control. There’s a nice mix of pear and melon with a little creamy nectar and richness. There’s a nice savory minerality on the finish and comes together with precision to a long finish. Most attractive current drinking wine. Ray Jordan Wine critic, author and journalist at Winepilot Ray Jordan has been writing about wine for more than 40 years. His first articles were published in the early issues of national wine magazine Winestate in the late 1970s when he worked in Sydney as a newspaper correspondent. From 1989 Ray wrote more than 3000 columns as a regular newspaper wine columnist. He currently writes a regular column for the special business publication Business News and is one of the main contributors to national wine platform Wine Pilot. In 2017 Ray co-authored The Way it Was – A History of The Early Days of the Margaret River Wine Industry and previously wrote Wine in the Blood: Australia’s Family Wine Estates, published in Mandarin and English. In 2011 Ray was awarded WA Wine Press Club Jack Mann Memorial Medal for his contribution to the WA wine industry. Ken Gargett - Winepilot

The Adelaide Hills continues to provide some of Australia’s most impressive Pinot Gris. Quite a deep lemon/grey hue, which might sound odd, but this is exactly what this variety provides when allowed. The nose gives us pears and sea breezes with some crisp green apple and floral notes. There is a pleasing saline lift running throughout and good minerally support. Seamless with underlying power, there is good concentration and medium length here. Attractive drinking. Enjoy over the next two to three years.

Jeni Port - Winepilot

A smart price is definitely part of the charm of this hills Gris but, so too, the attractive spiciness that comes through from the very first sniff. A gentle complexity has been worked into this wine: stewed apple, pear and citrus peel with a lively spiciness. A pear drop confection quality, especially through the finish, works super well with the brisk acidity. Well priced, fresh, lively in fruit and delivered with some typical varietal spiciness, this is a Gris that can be enjoyed every day.

Shanteh Wale - Winepilot

A buffet of honeydew melon, nashi pears and star fruit. There are juiced limes and red apples too. A tickle of spritz, this is uplifting but with some honeysuckle tones to boot. Evenly weighted tannins give a uniform feel from front to back palate, and you are left with cloudy apple and pear notes on the finish. Grigio and Gris drinkers this is both in your wheel house. Drink now with a spring pea and parmesan risotto.
