2025 Mystery Tumbarumba Chardonnay Deal No. 6211

This is the follow-up vintage to the wine we crowned our TWC White Wine of the Year - and the tasting crew almost couldn't believe it, but there's a genuine argument the 2025 is even better!

We can't outright tell you who makes it, but if you've been around The Wine Collective for a while, it won't take much digging. It comes from a cult producer high in the cool slopes of Tumbarumba, the cult-status region for Chardonnay (just ask Penfolds and Hardys, who source their flagship Yattarna and Eileen Hardy from these very vineyards).

Tumbarumba doesn't make life easy for growers. It's cold, the weather is unpredictable, and one vintage can look completely different from the next. That unpredictability is part of what makes the good years so good: less fruit, a longer growing season, and an intensity and balance you simply don't get from bigger yields. It's the coming together, the aligning of the stars, that's somehow managed to level up one of our favourite Chardonnays -  and that's saying something, given what came before it.

This release has all the tension, precision and cool-climate class that made us fall for it in the first place, with a little more depth, a little more concentration, and a little more confidence. Production is tiny and the producer already has plenty of fans, so this one won't sit around for long.
