Critic Reviews
90 POINTS
Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
The shapeshifting range of Ravensworth wines often has me in a head spin, but they make it work. This is a wine that we last saw seven years ago, but a Hilltops vineyard spared some crop and here we are.
It has some light rum and raisin, date and fig characters but still feels uplifting, curiously crisp and bright. Touches of milk chocolate, some nougat too, but the gist is perky, frisky red fruit with even a light, white balsamic haze blowing through. Fun, fresh. good.
Jane Faulkner - Halliday Wine Companion
The back label says the fruit is usually a ‘bugger to grow’, but this came in ‘nice and ripe’, yet there are lots of green edges here, which is distracting unless served with hearty fare. It has the appealing varietal aromas and flavours of freshly rolled tobacco, sour cherries, barely ripe blackberries, all doused in fresh herbs, green peppercorns and black pepper too – sweet-sour palate with overt acidity.
