Ken Gargett - Winepilot

The fruit used here is selected from two different Adelaide Hills vineyards, which represent a range of Pinot Noir clones. The colour is a red/russet and the aromas weave through cherries, dried herbs, raspberries and spicy notes. These most attractive fragrances linger and there is also a touch of leaf litter. The wine of medium weight. It is seamless and seductive with very good length through to silky tannins, which are deceptively abundant. Well balanced, this is a cracking Pinot Noir from a top vintage for the region and it represents great value. Enjoy over the next five to seven years.

Light-bodied Adelaide Hills Pinot with funky wild characters. Dominated by strawberry and cherry. Smooth, integrated palate with silky tannins and spicy fruit notes. Satiny texture with a balanced finish.

A wine with wild raspberry and red cherry at its centre folded in with whole bunch spice and some herbal edges. There is a chewy tobacco sweetness and some cherry cola too, this makes the most of its savoury character and overall is very good value. Tannins are fine and sandy. If you enjoy the autumnal nature of earthly Pinot Noir, this is for you. Buy it by the case and drink it with lamb gozleme.

For the $25 price tag, you get a fresh, vibrant Pinot Noir with lasting flavour. Mid red-crimson colour. Mixes scents of cherry, plum and pressed flowers with deeper earthy rhubarb notes. The palate delivers flesh and mid-palate juiciness, but it is the earthy tannins and game notes that pique that extra vinous interest.

Soft and supple, slips and slides. An easy on the eye, wallet and palate pinot noir of solid varietal character. It's ruby red in the glass; sweet cherry, maraschino, sweet spices to taste. Similar scents, too, and a good volume of aroma to boot. Sure, it's pretty one dimensional, but it drinks with ease and feels widely appealing.
