The grapes for this wine were sourced from a single vineyard in Frankland River. It is the most northerly subregion of Western Australia’s Great Southern wine region.
Being over 100km inland, the vineyard experiences the warmest, driest days and the coolest nights. The grapes tend to have thicker skins and less juice producing more textural, structural Rieslings with flavours tending towards pear with hints of stone fruits.
Only the finest, more pristine, “free run” juice was used in the production of this wine resulting in a palate of outstanding elegance, free from the harsh, phenolic characters associated with pressings.
A long, cool ferment in stainless steel tanks, minimal fining and the use of screw caps are all further steps towards capturing the inherent delicacy of this cool climate variety.
A brilliant, exceptionally pale straw colour with youthful green tinges.
The wine exhibits pungent spicy blossom and hints of stone fruits enhanced by an underlying “lemon barley” vibrancy.
A seamless palate, with initial flavours of passionfruit and Meyer lemon leading to a spicy mid-palate with hints of pear finishing with textural pithy acidity.
The fine structure is testament to the care taken during this wines production.

Erin Larkin - Robert Parker Wine Advocate
The 2024 Frankland River Riesling was wholly sourced from the Swinney vineyard here in Frankland River, and the wine is tightly coiled and compressed, with a pure seam of acidity that runs down the middle of the wine like a fault line. This is classically made—i.e., made with free-run juice that had a long, cool ferment in stainless steel and then was bottled soon thereafter—so the complexity on show here is derived from the fruit and not the winemaking. This brings a sense of purity and focus to the wine that I really appreciate. The wine feels plump through the middle palate, and it has a lychee/elderflower character that is very pretty. This is a lovely wine and a wine for the future. It will be long lived. 12% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
Mike Bennie - Halliday Wine Companion
A skittish, skeletal riesling that also feels a little painted in watercolour, but does manage to be refreshing, tart and zesty enough to deliver intel on the variety and location it comes from. Green apple, a squeeze of lime, a touch of cumquat piquancy. It's easy to get into.
