The Douloufakis family boasts a rich tradition in viticulture and wine production, tracing its origins back to 1930 when Dimitris Douloufakis established a professional winery in Dafnes, Crete. Today, his grandson, Nikos Douloufakis, continues the legacy. Nikos, an oenology graduate from Alba, Italy, has revitalized the winery, focusing on crafting superior quality wines from their own vineyards.
The Douloufakis Winery's vineyards span 10 hectares on hilly slopes within the Dafnes region, at an altitude of 350 meters. They cultivate a diverse range of grape varieties, including Vilana, Vidiano, Muscat of Spina, Malvasia, Mandilari, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Liatiko, Kotsifali, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, and Syrah. In addition to their privately owned vineyards, Douloufakis sources grapes from local farmers who cultivate their own vineyards in the same area. The winery is particularly renowned for its single vineyard 'Aspros Lagos' Vidiano and the PDO Liatiko red.
