From vines planted between '76 and '07; 20% whole bunches and 25% new oak. A light, bright cherry red. Red fruited, with wild hedgerow, roses and a melange of spices. This is really lifted and perfumed on the bouquet. Light to medium bodied, this builds nicely across the palate with superfine and persistent tannins and bright acidity, giving the wine both structure and length. I can see this filling out very nicely over the next few years.

Savory-edged, with earthiness driven by aromas of black fruits, licorice, salt-cured meats, damp earth and graphite. The palate is medium-bodied, with generous texture and finely tuned tannins. The finish is plush with a mineral edge.

All the herbs and spices, of course, but the shells of nuts, woodsmoke, a chicory element and whispers of both black coffee and black tea, all of which swirl around sound, sure-footed cherry-berry fruit flavours. This wine is as complex as it is assured, its sinewy tannin finessed into place, its flavours cascading out through the finish. This will age beautifully, and is best consumed with at least another few years under its belt.

The 2024 Pinot Noir Geelong leads with the savory, spicy, bunchy notes. On the palate, this looks like hot asphalt, and it's a little meaty—like biltong perhaps—with loads of dark chocolate, coffee and ironstone/ferrous/rust notes. This wine is intense, with a lot of autumnal, leather, leaf litter, peat and meat characters. It has conviction, confidence and class. This is very good. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
