Exquisite and finely expressed, the bouquet presents notes of white-fleshed nectarine, green rockmelon, lemon pith, and wet limestone. The concentrated palate exhibits outstanding focus and drive, splendidly framed by elegant texture and beautifully infused acidity, finishing impressively long and mouth-watering.

This wine is caught in the light, like pebbles embedded in the river stream, illuminated by the sun. It has a twist of lime, grapefruit flesh, and a touch of musk bath salts. It's racy and tightly tuned, yet there's a generosity that dials up the appeal. There's a metronomic balance between perceived fruit sweetness and the hallmark tang of the variety. It finishes long with persistence and drive – utterly delicious.

My word, I went looking for the vintage on this wine, and it’s in a tiny font, black on a dark green label. Challenging for an old chap like me!
Lime, green apple, a lemongrass and bath salts perfume. It’s crisp, has excellent energy, a fair burst of classic Watervale Riesling intensity and flavour, crunch and flinty bits, cool and balanced ‘mineral’ acidity, and outstanding length of flavour, closing with a lime and tonic sorbet richness. This is a bit of a banger. Top shelf.

The Watervale Riesling shows its pretty white blossoms on first opening and then reveals its orchard of tree hanging fruit. Strong Gardenia scent is met with Ambrosia flesh, white pears and yellow grapefruit skin and oil. Acidity is key here with a natural flow and agility that drives the wine without any acute edges. Some middle palate green plum flavour is activated and turns to an oatmeal creaminess, this is pretty darn nice drinking on its own but would serve a triple cream brie very well too. Pop it away in your cellar for a decade and it will also reward.

Beautiful, pristine Watervale riesling. Is there anything more refreshing? Vitality and verve, it's here. White florals, green apple, a spritz of honeysuckle and lime. Deeply enlivening. Beyond the yellow and green citrus, there is mandarin offering up its fragrance. Just a whiff of creamed honey. Delicious.

The 2024 Riesling 172 Watervale delivers a precise, pristine core of citrus peel and lime leaf aromas with a subtle stony tinge. Light in weight, this explodes with layers of citrus and sherbet flavors with a bolt of mouth-watering acidity. A little time in the cellar would be ideal to tame its natural exuberance.

It’s not far off the price of the excellent 172° in price.
This is a fleshy and juicy style. Apples, lime, a slight toasty and petrol note, some honey and spice. It’s a little rugged and grainy in texture, juicy apple and brown lime, with a tangy finish of solid length.
