Deep crimson with purple highlights, this Shiraz opens with aromas of ripe blackberry, plum, and subtle spice. The medium-bodied palate reveals juicy red and dark berry flavours, framed by soft, earthy tannins, leading to a bright, lingering finish that captures the essence of Hunter Valley Shiraz.
Critic Reviews
95 POINTS
Toni Paterson MW - Halliday Wine Companion
Made from the younger vines on the Old Hillside site, averaging 50 years in age. The block is steep and east-facing, with deep, dark soils. It is a lighter style displaying lovely elegance yet with pleasing density and flow. Bright red fruit with cherry stone succulence and a fine, lively acid structure. Quiet and composed.

The purity of fruit is impressive, with blueberry, bramble berry and violet aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a fresh finish. Bright and vivid. From 60-year-old vines.

Gary Walsh - The Wine Front
From a steep slope with an average age of 50 years. Raised in three year old 2700L casks. All these wines have only been bottled for a couple of weeks, but given I’ve had a crack at every Tyrrell’s red at the same stage for nearly twenty years, so I feel that I can have a red hot go at making sense of them. Boysenberry and purple fruit, it really pops, a little bit of liquorice richness, spice and florals. Medium-bodied, lots of crunch, a light earthy chalky/chamois-like grip to tannin, raspberry and redcurrant, with a bright finish of excellent length. So much Hunter goodness. Succulence of fruit, with some latent earthiness. Terrific wine.
