Product Highlights

It might feel a bit like one of those carpet stores that’s always closing down – but this is a deal worth jumping on. Thanks to a few backroom handshakes and a Johnny-on-the-spot moment, we’ve landed a stonking New South Wales Shiraz from a well-known, 5-Star Halliday-rated producer – for a fraction of the cellar door price.

That’s it. No more, no less.

So what’s it like? Juicy and generous, with soft pillows of blackberry biscuits, sarsaparilla, raspberry jam, and a gentle dusting of spice. It’s all about the smoothness. Easy-drinking, slippery mouthfeel, and a touch of vanilla and creamy almond oak for good measure.

It’s not complex. It’s not demanding. It’s just seriously drinkable.

Call it a firesale. Call it a never-before-seen deal. Call it what you like. Either way, just back up the proverbial ute on this one, you won't be disappointed.

Overall rating: 4.2 / 5 from 10 reviews.

We took the Mystery Plunge.

"Thanks Heaps at The Wine Collective. The Mystery NSW Shiraz dozen was a surprise for my wife, as I don't drink any red except Fortifieds. What a SMOOTH SURPRISE it all turned out to be. Great recommendation from yr end & I trusted yr better judgement in the ad & she who must be obeyed thinks it's one of the nicest reds she has ever had. Much Appreciated TWC !! Tony ✋👏🆒😲🏆💐"

Not a heavyweight Shiraz

"Pleasant enough, especially given the amazing price, but didn't quite pack the punch I was expecting. My wife also arrived independently at the same conclusion."

great daily drop

"I admit to being apprehensive when I saw the region. but that was misplaced. It's a good wine for daily drinking through to impromptu pizza/sausage sizzle. Glad I bought it."

R. PAULAZZO 2023 Riverina Shiraz

"We have consumed several bottles of this wine, and it is not improving. How it got a Halliday sticker on it I have no idea. I’m not snobby when it comes to wine and have no real pre conceived thoughts before first tasting, but this drop does nothing to enhance the Riverina’s reputation as a bulk supplier not a fine wine district. Can’t quite put my finger on the issue, but it just doesn’t taste like a decent Shiraz. There appears to be no doubt though that “terroir” is a defining factor despite the obvious skills of this winemaker. I’m not a serial whinger, and generally just take the good with the bad and cop it on the chin - and put it down to experience. I appreciate the opportunity to give you the feedback and I think it will be a struggle to get through the case. No complaints with any other wine I’ve had from you, and your business came well recommended by someone who only drinks decent wine, with whom I have shared many of your wines previously. Thanks for the opportunity to give you my thoughts. Ken Skinner"

Wonderful Shiraz Surprise

"Restaurant loss! My win! What a truly lovely drop, I do hope this Shiraz is available again, especially at such an amazing price of $99 for 12btls."

Aust Post failed to deliver so far

"Thanks for asking for feedback. I received a message from australian post to say that they had tried to deliver. They did not. Their driver took a photo of the apartment building next door to mine that had bins on the street. Said he couldn’t park to deliver. This is a lie, his photo failed to show my driveway was free and clear all he had to do was turn into it, park at the door and drop the package off. I have complained to aus post and explained to them that I cannot collect from the local post office as I am unable to lift and carry the box. They said on this occasion the would redeliver but it was an exception. A week later, still no delivery so could you please chase them up from your end. I’d really like to try my wine…. . if I reorder from you in the future, can you guarantee delivery to me so that I don’t need to spend over an hour chasing my delivery, and arguing with aus post that they had been paid to deliver the package and should just do their job. I look forward to your reply"
