There’s a generosity to the Stonier chardonnays and it's on show here. Quince and white peach infused with lemon juice and zest, lemon curd and nutty/creamy lees flavours then warm spices and oak come into play. There’s a lot going on flavour-wise, yet everything is neatly in place with the palate supple and smooth and the finish long and convincing. -Jane Faulkner

The KBS is often my favorite of the impressive chardonnays in this area. The aromas are a little more subdued than the intense norm of the Mornington Peninsula, while the texture is resinous and a bit chewier. In all, a medium-bodied wine of extract and power, delivered in an attractively understated way. The finish is long and salty with a whiff of peach skin, quince and flint. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Let the good times roll. GW and I are off to Pop Will Eat Itself and Jesus Jones at Manning Bar in Sydney this evening, and this couldn’t be a more opposite drink to pre-load for a concert. Stately, serious, regal. Should have gone to a Sydney Symphony Orchestra concert. Intense, creamy and soft, spreads well in the palate and delivers a fine mesh of stone fruits, green mango, preserved lemon, some parmesan rind, flinty mineral characters, nougat, marzipan and cinnamon. It flows beautifully, a little chalky grip in the midst of the more rich and smooth characters, good extension of flavour and a sense of elegance overall. Not a lot of fireworks here, but definitively a fine wine and well done in its groove.
