Estate fruit. Maturation in (30% new) oak for 14 months. Blackberries on the bush, blackcurrants and juniper berries. Baked red clay, driftwood and dried bush greens. Bay leaf and caperberry. There is a crackle of dried leaves to the sound this wine gives out. It's as Australian as ’dry as a bone’. Cedar, tea brewing in a billy and all the nostalgia. Oak and saltbush are part of the fabric of the wine. Just splendid.

Ray Jordan - Winepilot

This is right in Coonawarra’s wheelhouse. It was a strong vintage resulting in wines that combine the regional elegance and stylish expression with the power and structure to last. Aromas of distinctly blackcurrant with a slightly earthy violet-like character. The palate is still tightly controlled by fine chalky tannins and fine-grained oak. Just 30% of the oak was new, allowing the palate to achieve balance and poise with great fruit expression.

Lisa Cardelli - Winepilot

A Cabernet that has, as per the normal register with this grape variety, spent 12 months in 100% French oak, of which 50% is new. We are at that stage where the evergreen, young Cab Sav has started shaking off the vegetal vestige, showing what is truly hiding underneath: a mix of polished, well-ripened cassis, Java plums, black currants, and wild black cherries. An indication of smokiness and cinnamon from the oak amalgamates well with the fruity bounty. The chunky tannins, that true vein of natural acidity, and an additional liquorice-like mid palate are the hallmarks of this medium-bodied Cabernet with a relatively conservative length but a clear purpose: that of satisfying the thirsty quench of everyone, every day.

Jeni Port - Winepilot

The 2022 season in Coonawarra is noted as cool and wet. It is reflected in this Cabernet Sauvignon with its striking leafy, herbal notes and structure. Crushed leaves and autumnal notes mesh with thyme and black fruit aromas. The assorted herbs and leafiness are amplified on the palate against the black fruits and finely detailed in aniseed, chocolate, medicinal notes and woodsy spice. A touch of spearmint tells you of the regional address. An altogether good drinking Cabernet with tannins well-tuned and oak (12 months in French oak, 50% new) in harmony.

David Sly - Decanter

A dusty red edge to the rich colour heralds a terra rossa pedigree. Swirl the glass and take a sniff, and that red earth forces its place amid generous red plums with a flash of bright redcurrant, raspberry and cranberry. The flavour profile also has ripe blackberry riding beneath the happy red berries through a smooth middle palate, before a very gentle landing. Immediately approachable, it has the type of comforting harmony that eludes many Cabernets.

The 2022 Terra Rossa Cabernet Sauvignon is lean and tightly wound, with some oak showing through the fruit. It is now three years past its harvest and almost two in bottle, so it is likely that this wine will persist as is for some time, but earlier drinking is recommended, within the decade.
