This is one of those bottles that barely makes sense on paper.
A benchmark McLaren Vale blend from a producer we can’t name, but one collectors will know well. A biodynamic estate with serious credentials, including Halliday Wine of the Year honours, and a reputation that places it among the very best in the region for Grenache.
The blend is led by Grenache, backed by Shiraz and Mourvèdre, with smaller portions of Carignan, Cinsaut and Counoise, drawing clear inspiration from the great estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. But this is no imitation. It’s thoroughly McLaren Vale in character - generous, lifted and effortlessly drinkable.
In the glass, it brings bright red fruit, raspberry, strawberry, gentle spice and fine tannins. Medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, it has that rare quality of feeling both polished and easy at once.
This is the kind of wine people happily buy under its own label without hesitation. Which only makes it more remarkable as a Mystery deal.
A serious name. A serious blend. And the sort of bottle that reminds you why Mystery wines have such a loyal following.
