Sitting a light, bruised magenta in the glass, The Able Seaman presents itself very nicely indeed. The nose is all pure plum and cranberry fruits packed with gingery spice, pressed wildflowers, cola, amaro, earth and red licorice. It's got space and detail, perfectly balanced bright acidity and silty tannins, finishing sapid and delicious. A great modern Barossan grenache that provides wonderful drinking.

The website doesn’t work, and if you lose the wine in the domain name, you get a site about breathing techniques, though breathing is not something we generally need to think about. Here’s a good wine in a more throaty style. Dark cherry, plum, liquorice, sage and spice. Medium to full-bodied, sandy tannin, plum, and chocolate dipped strawberries, baking spices, with a grainy finish of good length. Plenty of flavour and a good amount to chew on. Value is bang on.
