What a good wine this one is. Gordon gets it from Frankland as he has done for many years, recognising how good this region can be, and this is certainly one of the best. The season was pretty good and it's produced a wine of deep complexity and rich flavours with a mighty combination of plum and cherry and some nice toasty spicy black olive characters. Palate is generous, supple and with a smooth and soft finish. That little bit of savoury dried herb character on the finish completes what is an excellent wine.

The 2022 Reserve Shiraz is savory and red/brown inflected in its flavor profile of coffee grounds, paprika, sumac, sweet roasted marrow, ironstones gravels and rust. This is a spicy, medium-bodied wine of serious intensity and complexity. It is very good indeed. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Jane Faulkner - Halliday Wine Companion

No winemaking details, so not sure what differentiates the reserve from its sibling, straight shiraz, aside from a heavier bottle and certainly oak as this is dripping with cedary, sweet wood, and it’s dominating (back label states aged 18 months in French oak, but percentage of new not known). Yet the fruit within is very good, dark, spiced plums, ironstone and aniseed, a hint of pepper. The full-bodied palate comes coated with ripe, plush tannins, fresh acidity, then the sweet oak comes whooshing through.
