An ethereal Pinot Noir, it has a nose of violets, boysenberry, plum, black olive and vanilla. Telling the story of the vintage, it is sweet-fruited and pretty with cherry, raspberry and blackberry, along with savoury tapenade and a touch of char and spice. Possessing talcy tannins and lively acidity, complexity builds mid-palate and it has a long, harmonious finish.
Critic Reviews
97 POINTS
James Suckling
Subtle aromas of strawberry tart and rose petals with hints of graphite and gunpowder. Complex nose. Full-bodied but not heavy, with an agile and floating palate that shows so much character but is always svelte. Fine tannins that integrate with fresh acidity. An intellectual and intriguing pinot. Will age beautifully.
Winemakers Notes
It started with a map in a dark library and an epiphany. Which led to an Alchemist-like journey to Bannockburn to discover the mysteries of wine and this special place. A wise man once said, “find the best vineyard sites you can because you can’t out perform your vineyards”. Guided by this wisdom, a process of following the signs, finally led to this far corner of the world, Bannockburn, Central Otago and the Sancta vineyard, home to the first vines planted in Bannockburn.
