The Shiraz was sourced primarily from Ulithorne's 65 year old dry-grown vineyard in Blewitt Springs, handpicked, cooled overnight, open-fermented, basket-pressed to 20% new and 80% used French oak for 15-18 months. Both black and blue fruits join hands with a touch of regional chocolate, the tannins fine in best Blewitt Springs style, oak no more than a conveyance. It is a wine that celebrates the elegance & intensity of flavours of old bush vine Shiraz. With spice & ripe cherries on the nose, driving length of blood plums and an elegantly weighted palate, the flavours are balanced with soft tannins. Thoughtful viticulture & dedication to winemaking detail. From 65 year old vines.

Sam Kim - Wine Orbit
A magnificent rendition of the variety, showing blackberry, cedar, star anise, cured meat, and potpourri characters on the nose, followed by a powerfully expressed palate delivering awesome weight and expansive mouthfeel. Tannins are polished and in abundance, making it superbly structured with a prolonged, sophisticated finish.

Ken Gargett - Winepilot
A prestige release which enjoys more time in the cellar than most and it reveals the benefits of that. The fruit usually hails from the estate’s 65-year-old vineyard in the Blewitt Springs sub-region and the wine can expect to spend around a year and a half in a mix of new and older French oak. Under diam. Deep maroon hue, the nose promises us a wine that will be big and bold. There are aromas of cassis, blueberries, mocha, coffee beans and more – it is beautifully aromatic. The oak is deftly handled. Supple, juicy, crowd-pleasing and ever-so-delicious, this has impressive length and very fine silky tannins. Love it. A future of ten to twelve years at the very least.

Good, not quite up to 2019 though
"Well made from a very good vintage, just not quite the full body of the 2019 vintage, Cheaper elsewhere too."
