This is a wine of both heft and restraint though, when push comes to shove, there’s more of the former than the latter. Dark berry, chocolate, smoked meat and clove flavours come infused with mint and caramel cream. There’s flavour and there’s warmth, and not a little texture too, with the restraint shown mostly in the neatness of the finish, and in the way that (sweet) fruit wins out over oak (if only by a little). There’s substance to this wine and good deal of it.

Sam Kim - Wine Orbit

Gorgeously styled and expressed, the wine shows Black Doris plum, blueberry, floral and roasted nut characters with a hint of dark chocolate. It's wonderfully weighted and flavoursome on the palate delivering excellent fruit intensity combined with silky tannins, making it fabulously drinkable. www.mrriggs.com.au.

Deep ruby with aromas of crushed forest berries, ironstone and bay leaf. A full-bodied wine that offers a good core of dark fruit and savoury herb and minerality. Tannins are sandy and a moment of freshening acidity in the middle helps keep it vibrant right to the long finish

Ned Goodwin - Halliday's Wine Companion

Machine-harvested fruit from the acclaimed Woodside vineyard. Inoculated with two yeast strains to derive aromas of lilac, dark cherry, baking spices and mace. The finish, a gentle rivulet of ground pepper and clove. There is a whiff of class to this, without quite breaching the higher realm. The mid-palate lacks girth. At this price, however, the value proposition is solid.
